The National Human Rights Award 2026 in Colombia aims to publicly recognise and support the legitimate work carried out to defend human rights in the country. The award seeks to highlight the efforts of individuals and organisations contributing to democracy and peace, while strengthening their position and influence in society. It also aims to build broad support and recognition for both individuals and organisations working for human rights in Colombia, and to promote a positive and solidarity-based understanding of efforts to advance and protect human rights.
The call for nominations invites individuals, organisations, social movements, and human rights defenders to be nominated in four categories:
- Defender of the Year
- Social and community-based processes
- Organisations/NGOs
- Lifetime Achievement Award for individuals with more than 30 years of work in the field of human rights
Nominations are reviewed by an independent jury. Deadline for nominations is 30th June 2026.
